The Conclusion of the Lion Security Series
Warning: Some events may be a tad bit unrealistic.
So if you read Obsidian Liquor and Obsidian Mask then you were left with a massive cliffhanger until this book–a hem, novella. I’m so grateful that found this series after they were all out. I don’t think I could have made it after that kind of cliffhanger ending.
The book begins right where book 2 ended when Beth, is kidnapped. After her brutal imprisonment where only the life of her babies mattered, a battered Beth is now safe at home, or perhaps saying she is home and safer-ish. Surrounded by those she loves, those badass warriors of the Russian Mafia and in the arms of Daniil, she should be safe, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. This part of the book was excellent. Experiencing what Beth went through was gripping and I devoured the pages anxiously looking forward to her rescue & reunion with Daniil. When that moment finally happened, again it was pretty great reading and then it began to change. Nothing slows down. Gun battles are waged in the streets from a limo with missiles and machine guns. Yes, it’s a bit unrealistic.
Guns will blaze, the body count will grow and Beth proves her meddle as the bad guys toss their own brand of a welcome home party. Beth really changes (as anyone would after something so horrific) but Daniil has changed as well. They haven’t switched personalities, but they have changed each other. Beth proves over and over that she is just as much of a badass as the rest of them and Daniil learns that love and trust aren’t weaknesses after all.
Never underestimate the power of crazy writing, rapid-fire action and some of the strangest interludes of humor, ever! It was a good ending to the series.
